Tuition - Brass

We offer tuition on trumpet, cornet and trombone to adults and children 6 years old and above. All brass tuition is given by Rick James on a Thursday afternoon and evening.

Rick’s parents were horrified when he came home from primary school with a trumpet. Undaunted, he worked his way through the ranks of as many ensembles as he could before moving to the North-East to study at Newcastle College. He has a Graduate Diploma in commercial music and B.Ed. Rick has been teaching brass at the Northern Music Centre since 2003 and has worked as a classroom music teacher and a peripatetic brass teacher in schools across Newcastle, Northumberland and County Durham. He has toured extensively as a musician and continues to perform regularly in the popular Northeast function band ‘Hip Operation’.
